ABOUT US
Running and funding our hall
The hall was built in 1931 and has been hosting village events and activities for nearly 90 years.
We have an enthusiastic management committee, who have recently delivered improved hall facilities, and are working on more. We welcome new clubs and events and want the hall to continue to be at the heart of the community.
Regular events and activities include visits from the mobile library, the Rag Tag Toddler Group and Art classes, with monthly meetings of the Parish Council, Snitterfield Garden Club; Women’s Institute (WI), Snitterfield Actioning Climate Change (SACC); Community Cafe and Rural cinema.
In addition, the hall runs fundraising events throughout the year led by the Village Hall Committee to raise much needed funds towards the upkeep and improvements to the hall.
HALL IMPROVEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
The Village Hall Committee has been working on plans to improve the hall and provide facilities for disabled users.
Plans were drawn up and approved in the autumn of 2015 and public consultation was sought at this point. There was overwhelming support for the plans but since then we have needed to make changes to help reduce the costs which are currently estimated to be in the region of £300,000.
The new plans will still provide the elements as previously proposed and the work will be undertaken in phases:
Refurbish the existing toilets and build a new easy-access toilet. The new toilet will be located between the kitchen and rear meeting room with access from both rooms.
Refurbish the store rooms.
Raise the carpark level to give direct access into the main hall for wheelchairs and pushchairs through the front door.
These first two improvements have been completed. Please see photos.
Redecorate the main hall.
Build a larger meeting room at the rear of the hall with direct access from the side of the building. This will include a servery area and access to the new toilet.
RUNNING OUR HALL
Snitterfield Village Hall Management Commitee
Snitterfield Village Hall is in the heart of the community and the day to day running of the hall is under the care of the management committee. This is a volunteer committee who maintain the fabric of the building on behalf of the Parish Council through the hiring of facilities and fundraising.
The aim of the committee is to create a welcoming community centre for all members of the village and other users of the facilities.
We are a small band of volunteers and would welcome anyone who would like to join us either on the committee or to help with specific events.

VILLAGE HALL FUNDING
We fund the running costs, maintenance and development of the hall through a combination of income from hiring, our 'Friends of Snitterfield Village Hall' subscriptions, grants and sponsorship. We are very grateful for all contributions from businesses and individuals for their time, money and expertise.
Friends of Snitterfield Village Hall
Friends raise funds for capital expenditure items requested by the Management Committee. We have provided new chairs, the cinema screen, mood lighting and cooker among other things. Members of Friends contribute £12 a year, and we have a monthly draw, paying out a first prize of £18 and second prize of £12. Results are shared at the Annual Village Hall Meeting. Please join us, new members are always needed.
